We're In!

Finally! After a year and a half, this is the post you've been waiting for. It's not quite finished, but we are moved in. Thursday, October 28th, was the first night in our new home.

The Plan:
DirecTV came on Tuesday to install the new HD Dish.
Verizon, for phones and T1 Wifi, for internet were both scheduled for Thursday. (Which is why we picked that night to spend our first in the house.)

Reality:
No one showed up! And because they disconnected our phone at the condo to make the transfer to the house, I couldn't call to find out where everyone was.

It was a frustrating day, to say the least. I couldn't leave the house because I was afraid I'd miss the installers, but I needed to go back to the condo to move more stuff to the house. They both showed up on Friday along with the landscapers who delivered the gravel for our driveway.
To make things worse, it was pouring rain. StoneRidge Guy and I had to rake the gravel to move it to the edges and get it level. I was lucky to have to go to work. He was at it all day long, in the rain!  My arms and shoulders ached for days.

As you can see, boxes are being emptied and knick-knacks are getting put place.

Here's StoneRidge Guy preparing our first breakfast in the new house.

Our new dining room table.

This is our guest room, where we will be staying while we finish the house.
Hopefully, some of you will be staying here when everything is finished.

Our now finished guest bathroom. It took 4 trips to Lowes, but we finally got a medicine cabinet that wasn't damaged or missing parts

My make-shift linen closet, since the cabinets for the laundry room have haven't been ordered yet.

Until a couple of days ago, I had to dry my hair blind because we didn't have a mirror in the bathroom. It's bad enough I have to plug the hair dryer in the hallway, 'cuz the outlet in the bathroom doesn't work. I can't dry our laundry because we need a new plug due to the upgrade in the building codes. This is definitely testing my patience

Next week the electrician is scheduled back in to fix what doesn't work and/or install what hasn't been. The plumber is due back to get our hot water working properly and see why our water pressure is so low. I could go on, and on, and on, and on...

I don't know what plan we're on now, I think it's around "R". Way back around plan "D", we were going to get the guest room, bath and kitchen done enough to move in. Once we got in, our priorities immediately changed.
This was our list of what we needed to finish:
1. hall closet (I needed alot more space to hang our clothes)
2. pantry
3. laundry room, so I would have a linen cabinet.
4. trim out the front door
5. add back splash to kitchen counters
6. finish the master bed and bath
7. glaze and varnish doors and trim
8. trim all doors, windows and floor.
9. start on downstairs.

Well we got as far as the hall closet when we realized that we just had to get the office set up for StoneRidge Guy. The list is gone.

Our dining room is now the office of Bradford Appraisal. It's just not working out.

We both agreed that we should just move downstairs and get the floors in so he could set up the office. After we changed our minds 3 more times about what we should do with the floors, we decided on a laminent wood.

The office walls are painted, the windows have been trimmed out and he is painting them as I write this. The base plastic has been laid down along with the padding. We
may be installing the wood floors tomorrow.
Hopefully, by next week, we'll be moving the furniture out of the garage and into the office. Then we'll probably finish the downstairs before we move back up.

Both of us agree that our favorite room is the one that was never even supposed to exist: the music/bonus room. It will be the last room that we finish, but we know it will be the most fun.

So for now, things are moving along. I have no idea what the next project will be. I can tell you one thing... it should all be done by next summer! And there will be plenty of room for guests!
